In a world increasingly dominated by scientific materialism, it’s easy to dismiss the supernatural as mere superstition or wishful thinking. But what if there was evidence to suggest that there’s more to reality than what we can see and touch? We recently had the privilege of speaking with Lee Strobel, author of “Seeing the Supernatural,” who has dedicated his career to exploring the evidence for faith.

Strobel, a former atheist and legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, brought his investigative skills to bear on the topic of the supernatural, interviewing experts from various fields and scrutinizing countless accounts of miracles, healings, and angelic encounters. What he found was a compelling body of evidence that challenges the prevailing materialistic worldview. One of the most compelling areas of evidence Strobel explores is that of near-death experiences and deathbed visions. These phenomena, often dismissed as hallucinations or the result of a dying brain, have been the subject of rigorous scientific study. Researchers have found that these experiences share common features across cultures and belief systems, and that they often involve elements that cannot be explained by purely physical means.

But the evidence for the supernatural isn’t just about extraordinary events. It’s also about the transformative power of faith, the healing of broken hearts, and the comfort that comes from knowing that we are not alone in the universe. As we discussed with Strobel, these experiences can deepen our faith, giving us a renewed sense of hope and purpose. Of course, discernment is key. Not every spiritual experience is from God. It’s important to test the spirits, to ground our beliefs in Scripture, and to seek wise counsel from trusted mentors. But as we approach the supernatural with both openness and discernment, we may find ourselves catching a glimpse of a reality that is far more wondrous and awe-inspiring than we ever imagined.
